Jennifer A. Mahnic
Broadveiw Heights City Council
Jennifer Mahnic is a good hearted individual who sincerely cares about residents and already shown compassion. Those who feel intimidated and feel threatened continue to attack her good nature. This is not the 50's anymore. We see through this fake veil and support her good cause.
No excuse this time. Anyone other than Jennifer for council president would be just another political disappointment. How about it city council... give us something we can really believe in!
Thanksgiving is the time for people to reflect and count their blessings and show their appreciation. This is why I am thankful for Jennifer Mahnic and her tireless dedication in serving the community. Besides being the *only* council person to vote against gas wells back in May, she continues to be a catalyst of environmental activism in this town by representing residents with class and dignity at this recent meeting with state officials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Da2295-BVg you notice, she doesn't have her hands in her pockets and just hearing people. ZZZZzzzzzzz.... No. She's listening AND writing it down! Bravo! What a fine example of attendance & studiousness for others and especially her students. We are all her students. Truly a Broadview Heights icon.
Jen's dedication in helping residents, tireless volunteer & charity work, environmental activism and promoting awareness, voting against health insurance increases, suggesting to the finance committee (last year) to cut council salary (her recommendation was blown off, btw), and taking a stand against raising rec center membership dues, all in just over one year. I'd consider that a dawn of a new era. Change is here. Embrace it.
Jen's success in such a short period of time along with her drive and dedication intimidates her political adversaries. In fact, they're so desperate they can only rely on character attacks because she has a spotless public service record. As if dedication, being a teacher and volunteering for countless community service organizations and charities in the city is a bad thing. She's out there DOING, while her rivals are doing lip service. Book it!
Last month's Broadview Journal had an article about the donations for the new playground. Sadly, no members of the current administration were listed, with the only exception being.... wait for it... Jennifer Mahnic! Both Jen and Joe also are volunteering for summerfest. I didn't see any other names from the elected administration volunteering. Why is that? Maybe that will change next year considering it's an election year. Oh well! Joe and Jen make a great team when it comes to representing the people! Thats something Broadview Heights can be proud of!
Keep fighting the good fight Jen! We're behind you 100% and your day will come! That you can believe!
Congrats to Joe and Jen on the success of the silent auction. In case nobody knows, Joe Price and Jennifer Mahnic worked tirelessly to help less fortunate children during this years Summerfest. Thanks to them, there will be many smiles from bright kids who thought they never had a future because of hardship. Once again, they pulled it off. Bravo indeed!
Jenny stands up for the residents. She deserves all the respect she gets.
Read about Jennifer which exposes her true character, sacrifice and concern for residents and homeowners. We need more people like this in the Broadview Heights political scene, rather than career politicians and the good 'ol boys network which has been the biggest plague for the city. We need a complete overhaul!
Jenny deserves much respect and her volunteer work is much appreciated!
Jen is doing her job. She is out here in the community getting to know the residents and participating in community She votes her conscious and doesn't appear to be afraid to ask questions even though the council president tries to intimidate her. Six other council people sit there like bumps on a log never questioning? She is the only council person that is not a rubber stamp to the mayor who appears to have a total lack of understanding or knowledge of government.
Jennifer Mahnic has been volunteering her time for community service and many other organizations to help the less fortunate long before before she even decided to run for council. Now that she’s in office, guess what? She still continues to help the poor by volunteering selflessly while loyally representing the residents & homeowners! A true representative of being a good steward to the city! I really don't see where the problem is. If anything, she sets the example for others!
How many elected officials can even come close to this rock solid track record of service and community involvement at only 29 years old? It not only proves Jenny has character, but is truly committed to helping others and achieving goals. Here’s what Broadview Heights can believe in; a person with such a long laundry list of accomplishments and service has not graced the city political scene in a very, very, very long time. Jenny is truly a Broadview Heights gem! Believe that!
"I take this honor very seriously and have worked hard to continue to earn the support of the residents. I am proud I have 100 percent attendance at my committee meetings, council work sessions and council meetings. I am 100 percent committed to the residents of Broadview Heights and will continue to participate in as many community organizations as I can and be accessible and available to the residents." How many council members can say that? This young lady is going places! BOOK IT!!!
Congrats to Jennifer Mahnic once again for fighting the good fight and representing EVERYONE!! As reported in the May issue of the BV Journal: "Jennifer Mahnic voiced her concerns about the mayor's recommendation for the position on the parks and recreation board. "My concern is that recreation involves all different demographics in our community, she said. Young adults to senior citizens; and we don't, in my opinion, have that representation on the board. With the last available spot, I would like to encourage council to approve the appointment of someone who represents one of the other options; a senior citizen, or someone who doesn't have children in the programs," she said." You have to ask yourself what ever happened to Sam’s campaign slogan about "expanding senior services"? Quite frankly, I've seen Jack and Squat. Where are these expanded services such as the computer lab, for example? Was this just another deceptive promise? You go Jenny and represent what’s right for the good citizens of BV! Keep up the good fight!! It will pay off in the end!! YOU GO GIRL!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!
City council needs more people like Jennifer since she was the only one to listen to residents. This is how a congressional system *should* work.
Can city council be trusted after this Ward 1 vote debacle (with the exception of Jennifer?)? My Vote: NO. Absolutely not!
Jennifer was the only council person to base her vote on whom the majority of people wished to have as representative of Ward 1. She deserves our utmost respect for standing up for the people! Broadview Heights needs more people like this in the administration!
Thank you for listening to the residents and representing the people instead of being corrupted by special interest! You will be rewarded for your honesty & loyalty! Keep fighting the good fight! Thank you!
It's obvious that Jennifer is going places!
Jennifer is doing an OUTSTANDING JOB! Really. She deserves a lot of credit. That girl will go places.... Hopefully, the mayor of BV.
Council is not elected to go along. Council is elected to represent their constituents. They should do their homework. Not go along. If Council all goes along, we do not need 7 Councilmen. We only need one. It is evident Jennifer does her homework. It is evident that the others go along.
"Council is elected to represent their constituents" and they failed to meet that simple goal when they voted on February 19 2008 for someone else other than the man who got the most support by ward 1 residents. Of course the only exception was Jennifer Mahnic. She should be proud to stand up against special interest that has plagued this city for so many years and represent the people! She brings government back to the people! HORRAY!
Congratulations to Jennifer Mahnic for taking the initiative (long before many other elected officials) by volunteering your valuable time for the Silent Auction to help the less fortunate in this year's Summerfest. You are sincerely committed to helping the community and truly deserve all the respect you get! Bravo!
It's not an election year. You'll see very little involvement from any of the elected officials. Ditto on the respect of Jennifer, she is at the forefront of community involvement. I nominate Jennifer Mahnic as volunteer of the year 2008!

"I've had the pleasure of working with Councilwoman Mahnic not only as a member of the Lions and Boosters, but also as a Chairperson for the Broadview Heights SummerFestival. I continue to be amazed at her energy and drive. She is somehow able to measurably contribute to each organization she is involved in. In addition, she has an equally strong commitment to the residents of Broadview Height, as is evidenced by her measured and independent stands on issues that affect our community."

I have the privilege to know Jennifer Mahnic as one of our council representatives. It is very refreshing to know that there is someone that believes in a Government of the People, by the People and for the People!! I applaud Jennifer for standing up for what is right and not for special interest. Jennifer Mahnic has the best interest for the City. I appreciate the time she has given me and family. She has my full support!
Louie Chodkiewicz - Ward 1
Jennifer Mahnic is a council person who communicates with the citizens of Broadview Heights. The first step in civic communication is listening to people expressing a concern. Jennifer listens, understands and represents the voice of citizens on city council. Her approach is professional and thorough while dealing with problems throughout the city. We need Jennifer Mahnic on city council in Broadview Heights.
Michael Seredick – Ward 2 Resident
Jennifer Mahnic listens to her constituents and has the courage and integrity to make her own informed decisions for the well-being of the residents, even if she has to vote independently of council party.
Patricia & Gerard Volk - Ward 3
